This topic came to me courtesy of my lovely sister Jessica! We were about to do a sister workout class when she asked me what I was doing? She didn’t know what a foam roller was. Of course, I was shocked!
I couldn’t believe as long as I have trained that we never discussed the importance of foam rolling. This got me thinking. How many working women and moms out there don’t have time to go to the gym and don’t have access to these valuable tools?

Have you ever heard of Thai massage being described as “lazy man’s yoga”? Well, the foam roller would be considered a cheap way to get a massage.
In the athletic, world foam rollers are used with athletes due to the strenuous training the body takes. However, now foam rollers are widely used by people of all fitness levels. The purpose of using a foam roller is for self-myofascial release, which basically means you are giving yourself a massage to release muscle tension or trigger points throughout the body.
USE A FOAM ROLLER BEFORE YOUR WORKOUT
Why is this important before your workout? Foam rolling can be used as a component of your warm-up. If you are feeling tight or sore from a previous workout, this process can alleviate some of the pain which will help you move better.

How is foam rolling valuable for everyday women? Well, how many times do you think to yourself, I could really use a massage. This eliminates the process of having to find a decent massage therapist, book an appointment that works for your schedule, block off several hours to drive to and from, and pay for a babysitter. Basically, your whole day is full just to get an hour massage. Now, don’t get me wrong!
Going to a spa and receiving a massage is well worth all of those things, but what if you could help aide the tension and soreness on your own until you have time for a massage? Take my word for it. Foam rolling is cheap, requires minimal time, and is worth it’s weight in gold!
