The holiday season is filled with beautiful lights, fancy dresses, elaborate treats, and bubbly galore. So, How do you make it through the holidays without packaging on the extra pounds? This is a question I get a lot from my clients.
It seems from the moment Thanksgiving is over the Christmas parties begin! Well, don’t be alarmed because I am here to help you maneuver through all of the challenges. No one wants to miss out on the fun festivities and you definitely don’t want to be on a “diet” during the holidays!
If you have read any of my previous blogs, you should know it’s all about that prep! If you don’t set yourself up for success then your already failing.
TO START, BE POSITIVE! DON’T START WITH NEGATIVE TALK!
Here’s the typical scenario I hear when asked about the holidays. Well, really it’s more of an explanation of how someone can’t stay healthy during the holiday!
Example: My friend is in town, and she always is down to have a good time. I have no controlof what foods are going to be available to me. I can’t drink water in between drinks because my friends will make fun of me. I can’t refuse a good dessert! The list can go on and on!
Well… if you start out that negative, you’ll never set goals or expectations for yourself. So, instead of thinking about all the ways it can go wrong, prepare yourself for any obstacles.
BY PREPARING, YOU CAN BE SUCCESSFUL!
Ok, so positive talk is very important, but so is preparing ahead for the event. Would you go to a party with a dress but no shoes? Of course not! So why would you go to a party starving!
If you know you’re going to a dinner or event with heavy hors d’oeuvres, why not eat a little something before you go? This way you can focus not on the food but focus on the people and atmosphere instead.
CAN’T SAY NO TO A DRINK? NOT A PROBLEM!
You should always enjoy yourself at a holiday party. However, it never hurts to pick a drink that you can sip on instead of gulp down. If you love a vodka drink, maybe pick something you can sip on like a glass of wine. Also, make sure to drink a glass of water between your drinks to keep you hydrated.
FIND THE DANCE FLOOR!
Lastly, keep yourself busy by finding the nearest dance floor. This is a good way to stay away from the food and drinks, and it helps you burn a few extra calories working that booty.
Happy Holidays, ladies!
